Endurance® Stainless Steel Drinking Straws

Serve drinks with a twist...and not of lemon! It's a drinking straw made of polished 18/10 stainless steel, served up in a set of four.

These are novel additions to cold summer beverages and sure to "break the ice" in dinner party cocktails. A trendy way to make ordinary drinks extraordinary!

Some Information About Stainless Steel:
Our straws are made with 18/8 stainless steel. A magnet WILL NOT stick to 18/8 or 18/10 stainless due to the high nickel content in this steel. The only difference between 18/8 and 18/10 is the amount of nickel.

Non-magnetic (austenitics) stainless steels comprise over 70% of total stainless steel production. They contain a maximum of 0.15% carbon, a minimum of 16% chromium and sufficient nickel and/or manganese to retain their austenitic structure. 18/10 stainless is 18% chromium and 10% nickel. 18/0 and 18/8 is also available.

High nickel austenitics are much more resistant to Stress Corrosion Cracking, so this is typically why they are used. It may be that the stainless steels without nickel are of inferior quality and less durable.

So, it appears that you can use a magnet to test the amount of nickel in a product and the ones that are more magnetic have less nickel.
